2026 F-Class British Open Championship
The 2026 F-Class British Open Championship was held on August 7th and 8th at Bisley. The morning conditions on the first day at 800 yards were some of the most favorable we had seen all week. There was almost no wind at the beginning of the day, followed by a fairly predictable wind as the 800-yard match progressed.
The favorable conditions were reflected in the scores, with 74 of the 179 F-Open competitors shooting a clean score at 800 yards. The remainder of the day brought relatively gentle and consistent winds for the 900- and 1,000-yard matches, giving competitors some of the best shooting conditions of the week.
Saturday was a very different story.
The second day brought much more challenging conditions, with a tailwind that switched quickly from left to right. Not only was the direction constantly changing, but judging how much value to put on the wind proved equally difficult. Many competitors dropped significant points as the conditions changed throughout the day.
The difference could clearly be seen in the scores. During Saturday morning’s 800-yard match, only 15 of the 179 F-Open competitors managed to shoot a clean score, compared with 74 at the same distance the previous morning.
The British Open concluded on the evening of August 8th with the awards ceremony, where two members of the Canada F-Open Team were recognized for their excellent shooting.
Antun Kovacevic earned a place on the podium in Friday’s aggregate, finishing an impressive 3rd overall for the day.
Simon Jori followed that up with an excellent performance on Saturday. Simon also earned a place on the podium, finishing 2nd overall for the day.
Congratulations to both Antun and Simon on two outstanding performances against a very strong international field and some extremely challenging Bisley conditions.
With the 2026 F-Class British Open now complete, our attention turns to the F-Class World Championships and the main reason we came to Bisley. After six days of competition in everything from calm winds to some very difficult and rapidly changing conditions, the British Open provided some valuable experience on the range as we prepare for the Worlds.
